I was told that my car needed to have a ball joint replaced in one of the front tires.
I haven’t noticed any problems driving it so what happens if I wait to have it fixed?
The ball joints are located at the front turning juncture. They connect the steering control linkage to the arms that hold and control the wheels.
When these go bad it means that there is too much play in them. That is, they cannot tightly control the positioning of the wheels.
This problem can cause other steering components to wear prematurely.
This may already be or it will become an unsafe condition.
Replacement of any loose worn ball joints should be done as soon as possible.
It is usually only needed after high mileage and not worth taking any risk by deferring the inevitable replacement.
To wait can only add risk to your driving.
